Support Services at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston

Our staff are the lifeblood of our Trust, but here at UHBW we understand that it takes more than Doctors and Nurses to keep a hospital working. Our Support Services staff are at the heart of what we do, helping us to deliver exceptional healthcare and ensuring that patient satisfaction is always put first.

Why choose us?

We are Bronze Investors in People

Our Estates & Facilities team have been Bronze Investors in People for over 5 years, demonstrating how we, as a Division, support our staff and encourage participation, development and work-life balance.

We have a Team Charter at the heart of the division that encompasses our management team’s commitment to fairness, equality and employee voice.

Flexible working

As a front-line service, we cover shifts over a 24-hour period, allowing for short and long shifts over the course of 24 hours. So, whether you’re an early starter or a late finisher, we have shifts to suit you. We run a 365 day per year service, allowing for weekends only, weekday evening, mornings, afternoons and nights.

To work for a Trust who invest in resources

We are investing over £130m over the next 5 years in our hospitals, which is one of the largest self-funded capital plans in the NHS. We are committed to improving our facilities for the benefit of both staff and patients, using resources wisely in order to invest in our services.

To work for a Trust committed to long-term sustainability

We are proud to be listed Gold Standard by the Soil Association, proving our commitment to the sustainable sourcing of our patient meals, for example, we use free-range eggs, locally sourced meat and no GM ingredients.

Estates and facilities lie at the heart of the UHBW. All day every day our 900 staff provide the essential and often unseen support networks that ensure all our hospitals deliver outstanding patient care in safe and secure environments. We make a difference by enabling, by getting things done, and by never walking by an opportunity to challenge and improve what we do for our patients and colleagues. I want the Division to be acknowledged as leading in customer service, and for an environment in which we trust and develop our staff to enthuse about making that difference, however small but important.
Andy Headdon, Director of Estates, Facilities & Capital
