RESPIRATORY AT UHBW

Due to service reconfiguration, our Bristol  Respiratory ward has transferred to a much larger area. Therefore we are in a position to expand our workforce and offer new opportunities for Band 5 and Band 6 Staff Nurses to join our team.

Here in Respiratory, we now have 32 beds including 24 cubicles and two four-bedded bays. We care for patients who require both ward-based respiratory care and respiratory high care. Our highly skilled team provide interventions including NIV BIPAP/CPAP, High Flow Oxygen therapy and Tracheostomy care. We can provide support and training to develop the skills and knowledge to enable you to progress in this speciality.

We are looking for nurses who inspire others and who work harder because they want to, not because they have to. If you are highly motivated, enthusiastic and have excellent communication skills this could be the job for you.

At UHBW, we’ll give you the tools and support but you will be in full control of your development. Our nurses know why they chose to continue their nursing journey here, join us and find out your reason why.

We can offer job security in these uncertain times within an organisation that is dedicated to the Wellbeing of its staff.

WELCOME TO WARD A800

A800 is an acute speciality with lots of variety and some incredible opportunities to help our staff development. This includes in house training and support available at our education centre. We offer study days, both internally and for those completing masters. We’ve recently had a few of our nurses awarded postgrad courses at UWE.

As our staffs develop they are doing it alongside an experienced team. Although this is a new team in theory this just goes to show how innovative we are. We always try to support our staff’s ideas and get them involved in decisions made.

We are linked very closely with the Research Nurses and we have been at the forefront of the Covid-19 trials. Although this has been a turbulent year it has meant that our nurses are involved directly in what is happening before it hits the news giving them incredible experiences to further their careers.

We have a great structure in the department as we have two ward sisters to support the running of the department. To read more about what they think of their ward, click the box below.

Our People

BRISTOL

Our Respiratory department is based in the heart of Bristol, a diverse, historic, and vibrant city bursting with food, music, and culture. Whether you like shopping, eating out, or sport and leisure activities, there’s something here for everyone.

Bristol is consistently tipped as one of the UK’s top cities to live, rated for its stunning scenery and social scene. In 2015 it was also named the UK’s first ever European Green Capital, in recognition of what its citizens have done in terms of making the city a healthier, happier place to live. We’ve put in place a number of green travel schemes, to ensure as a Trust we operate as sustainably as we can.

On top of all this, we’ve negotiated a wide range of discounts with local service providers and retailers, meaning you get great deals on anything from holidays to hairdressing and insurance to theatre tickets.
