Healthcare Support Worker induction schedule
The Healthcare Support Worker induction programme covers a maximum of eight (8) days, the attendance mapping list at the bottom of this schedule shows which roles need to attend each day. This programme covers the roles listed below:
- Healthcare Support Workers
- Maternity Support Workers
- Mental Health Support Workers
- Housekeepers
- Allied Health Professional (AHP) Assistants
- Registered Nursing Degree Apprentices (RNDAs) – full-route
Arrival and Registration Instructions:
Induction registration starts from 8.30am, induction itself starts at 9.00am.
Please bring some official picture identification (passport, driving licence, etc.) to help speed the registration process.
Venue: BFT induction venues are listed below. Please ensure you arrive at the venue stated in the email you have received.
Central Bristol site inductions: Lecture Theatre 1, Education & Research Centre, Upper Maudlin Street, BS2 8AE
Southmead site inductions: Learning & Research Centre, Southmead Hospital site, BS7 OUL
Weston site inductions: Academy Building, Weston General Hospital site, Grange Road, BS23 4TQ
Day one welcome programme (subject to change.)
- 08:30 – Induction registration (closes at 08.55)
- 09:00 – 13:00 – Welcome section, staff experience, fire safety, Learning & Workforce Development (breaks will be included in this section)
- 13:00 – 13:45 – Lunch
- 13:45 – 14:15 – Safeguarding awareness
- 14:20 – 15:20 – Medical device awareness
- 15:20 – 16:30 – Professional standards and behaviours
Days two to eight all start at 8.30 and finish at 16.30. You will be provided with full programme details during your day one session. The programme covers core clinical skills, resuscitation training, moving & handling training and other key essentials for your role, mapped to the requirements of the national Care Certificate programme.
If you are starting a healthcare support worker role in paediatric services, you will only need to attend for five (5) days.
Attendance mapping:
Day two (2): all programme attendees.
Day three (3): all programme attendees (note: housekeepers only attend for the morning.)
Day four (4): all healthcare support workers; all maternity support workers; all AHP assistants; all RNDAs (full route).
Day five (5): all healthcare support workers; all maternity support workers; all AHP assistants; all RNDAs (full route).
Day six (6): healthcare support workers (adult and mental health services only); maternity support workers; AHP assistants who work within Therapies services; all RNDAs (full route).
Day seven (7): healthcare support workers (adult and mental health services only); maternity support workers; AHP assistants who work within Therapies services; all RNDAs (full route).
Day eight (8): adult senior healthcare support workers; trainee senior healthcare support workers; maternity support workers; all RNDAs (full route).
